DESCRIPTION: American School (19th Century). Oil on canvas portrait bust of a bearded man with a dark jacket and white shirt. Unsigned. Reported to be a portrait of Rev. Archibald G. Marlatt, first President of Irving College for Women in Mechanicsburg, PA circa the 1800s. In heavy gilt frame. MEASUREMENTS: 24-1/2" x 29-1/2". Overall with frame 32-1/2" x 37-1/2".CONDITION: Repaired tear to collar and small areas of repair to background. Craquelure overall. Wear and losses to frame. Minor loss of tension.
