Description
This is the Large Fish Serving Set from Whiting; it consist of a large knife and serving fork. The Oval Twist pattern is from 1880 and very difficult to find. This fish knife is extra long at 12 5/8" in length and 2 3/4" wide with the serving fork being 9 5/8" and 2 1/4" with a total weight of 6.9 troy oz. The mark can only be seen partially on the knife and is worn out on the fork. Otherwise in excellent condition
Whiting Silver was founded in 1866 by William Dean Whiting, who had earned a reputation as a master maker of sterling silver. During the late 19th century, the firm was one of the premier manufacturers of sterling silver flatware, hollowware, and other decorative objects such as snuff boxes.
