Description
A finely chased tea cup and saucer from Imperialist Russia made in 1880 with excellent hallmarks in .84 zolotnik silver (875 / 1000 parts silver) purity. The teacup has a gilt interior. The saucer is 4 7/8 inches in diameter, and the cup measures 3 H x 3 5/8 D across the handle. The weight of the set is 5.2 troy ounce. The assayer's mark of two initials in the Cyrillic alphabet below the two numbers means this this item has been weighed at .84 zoloniks, and that it was assayed by Ivan Yefimovich Konstantinov. In English this would indicate 875 / 1000 parts pure silver. The impressed St. George of the Dragon is the city hallmark of Moscow. The maker's mark indicates it was made by Aleksandr Fuld.
