Description
A portrait of Anne de Polignac, Comtesse de la Rochefouchauld. She was the daughter of Jean de Polignac and was married in 1518 to Francois II who was the Comte de la Rochefoucauld. He died in 1533. The portrait is in pencil. Graphite is accented with the blue of her eyes and sanguine tones on her lips and other facial features. She is pictured in 3/4 view with a modest ruff at her neck and wearing a wimple on her head. In a mat that is hand ruled and has applications of gold paper. The frame is in black and gold with plaster losses.
