Description
**Previously Listed At $150**

James Caswell Davis (American, 1930-2016), Correia Art Glass paperweight, 1988 CE. A stunning Correia art glass paperweight of a mesmerizing optical pattern in hues of cobalt blue, teal green, white, and rainbow irridescent striations set within a translucent stylized geometric-shape created by James Caswell (engraved with Mr. Caswell's signature and dated "Correia - Jim Caswell - 1988" on one side). In addition to amassing the important Historia Collection of Spanish Colonial art, folk art, Mexican retablos and ex-votos, santos, paintings, dance masks, ceramics, textiles, ethnographic art, and much more, James Caswell worked for over twenty years as a studio artist in several media. He was an artist-in-residence at Sevres, the French National Porcelain Works, where several of his pieces were put into production - and he also designed exceptional pieces for Correia Art Glass of Santa Monica, California, founded in 1973 by the reknowned glass artist Steven V. Correia. A one-of-a-kind glass work of a brilliant design and the highest quality. Size: 3.5" L x 2.875" W x 2.25" H (8.9 cm x 7.3 cm x 5.7 cm)

According to the Correia Art Glass company, "The skilled artisans for Correia Art Glass use the freehand blowing techniques and tools of centuries past while applying new technology that produces superior results. Liquid glass, pulled from the furnace’s 2600 degree Fahrenheit inferno on to long stainless steel pipes, is blown and twirled and worked in an artful silent ballet of hot glass applied to hot glass. The molten magic of fire transforming fine sand from the American Southwest into glass is an entirely handmade process using our own formulas of minerals and precious metals. The result is art achieved through color, shape and light. Designs are garnet-etched into the surface of the glass, never painted on." (http://www.correiaartglass.com/about.html)
