Utagawa Hiroshige also known as Ando Hiroshige(Japanese, 1797-1858), "Harima Province: Maiko Beach (Harima, Maiko no hama), from the series "Famous Places in Sixty-odd Provinces of Japana (Rokujuyoshu meisho zue)-circa 1853, color woodblock print on paper, published by Koshimuraya Heisuke (Koshihei). Vertical nishiki-e work depicting a beach with pine trees, small figures throughout, small sails on boats in water on horizon line, diminutive figures near cottage structures under trees. Reference: Ukiyo-e shûka 14 (1981), Hiroshige list, p. 249, ôban #64.50. Unframed sheet size approximately 14.2" x 9.6". Image size approximately 13.4" x 9.1".
