Description
This is an old and genuine Door lock from the Bamana peoples of Mali, West Africa. The Bamana and their neighbors the Dogon create such elaborate doorlocks to protect from entry on their homes and their granary storage houses. This Lock is an original example and features a stylized ancestor / Hyena like motif with tall ears, similar to their masks. This Lock measures 19 inches tall x 18.5 inches wide. the sliding cross bolt is not permanently attached and can fall out. I would put a small finish nail in it to keep it from moving, however I left it as it was collected, in its original state.
