Description
A rare carved wooden slit drum from the lagoons region of west Africa. This Drum or wood block percussion instrument comes from a region known as the lagoons, which is coastal Ivory Coast and Ghana. Likely carved by the Kulongo or neighboring group such as the Attie, Akye or Anyi peoples. The Drum features a Ancestor head on top with curved horns and accented with white and blue kaolin clay pigment. The Drum measures 29.5 inches tall.
