Description
William Theed the Younger (British, 1804–1891); Portrait busts signed on the reverse of the figures above the socle, "William Theed Fecit / Roma 1834" in Carrara marble purportedly of Henry John Temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston, KG, GCB, PC, FRS (1784–1865) and probably Emily Lamb (1787–1869), although they were not married until 1839 on the death of Emily's husband 5th Earl Cowper. Together with two matching square black marble plinths traditionally associated with the sculptures, Good condition, light age related wear and staining to sculptures, small chips to edges of black plinths. Height of sculptures 16 inches (40.64 cm.). Plinths height 3 1/2 inches (8.9 cm.) X 6 7/8 inches square (17.46 cm. sq.).
