Description
Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chimu or Inca, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A delightful matte black ceramic stirrup jar with a tall spout and a tiny monkey perched against the junction between spout and handle. The body of the vessel has a flat base, with a pronounced shoulder. The monkey's long tail lies along the stirrup, his paws clutching the spout, and his head turned slightly to gaze upon the viewer. Size: 5.8" W x 9" H (14.7 cm x 22.9 cm)
