Strasbourg by Gorham Sterling Silver Bread or Cake Knife. This server is great for slicing bread or cutting cake. It would make a beautiful Wedding Cake Knife! It has a hollow handle and new stainless blade. Measures approximately 11" . Hollow handle custom made items are made from an original handle in your pattern with a new stainless implement. Then the piece is hand-finished by a highly skilled silversmith in the USA.The hollow handle is sterling and a genuine handle in your pattern, even though it is not usually stamped. Hollow handle items were usually not stamped due to their hollow construction.

Gorham Silver was founded in 1831 by Jabez Gorham, in partnership with Henry Webster, in Providence, Rhode Island. Originally a manufacturer of coin-silver flatware, the company began focusing on sterling silver in 1868, producing everything from flatware such as knives, forks, and spoons to hollowware pieces ranging from coffee pots to serving bowls. Strasbourg is a classic shell pattern with elegant scrolls started by Gorham in 1897.
