Description
A limestone head of a Queen. French, 2nd half 12th C., she wear a veil over her hair beneath a crown decorated with stones, traces of polychrome remain. The head has been purposefully mutilated either during the religious wars of the 16th or 17th C., or during the French Revolution. The head is possibly a Queen of Judah originally at the Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris. (DJOD7217) {WK}
