A 19th century signed original oil on canvas by Bradley A. Bucklin (American, 1824-1915), a listed artist of the Hudson River School. A cow in the middle of a country road, New York State. c. 1860. Signed bottom center. A true artist who died with paint brush in hand in front of his easel. In original period wood and gilt frame. In frame 22.50"x16.50"x3". Weight 8 pds. Bradley Bucklin Born 1824 (Little Falls, New York). Died – 1915 (Troy, New York). Exhibited in National Academy of Design. From the Utica semiweekly Press of Apr. 9, 1915, “Little Falls artist dead, L. Falls, Apr. 7. Bradley Brayton Bucklin, a former resident of this city, passed away in his studio at Troy, NY. on Mon. P.M. Apr. 5. He was found dead in his chair, easel and paint brush in his hand, when a member of the family with whom he resided went to summon him to supper. He was born in the town of Little Falls near the site of the present C. Club in 1824, being the son of Daniel and Sarah Bucklin. From childhood he showed considerable aptitude as an artist and his parents gratified his desire for an art education. He never married. He leaves three sisters. Mrs. Otis Eysaman of this city is a cousin.”
