SIGNED G. NAKASHIMA WALNUT CAPTAIN'S CHAIRS 1957: Walnut armchairs of American Walnut, with butterfly hinge construction, 28.5"h x 19"w x 19"l. purchased directly from George Nakashima in 1957 while on a visit to the artist's studio. In 1994, the original owner took the chairs back to Nakashima's studio and had them authenticated by the artist's daughter Mira Nakashima. She signed the base of the pieces with her autograph, the date of signing, Nakashima's name and the original date of purchase. Since being purchased directly from the studio, these chairs have never been offered on the secondary market and have resided in the personal collection of a respected Bucks County, Pennsylvania Antiques Dealer. Dimensions of each: 29”h x 29.75"l x 27”d. The base with the signature of Nakashima’s daughter, Mira Nakashima: April 16, 1994 and original date of purchase, 1957.
