RARE EARLY AMERICAN CLOTH DOLL BY EMMA BRISTOL. 15 ½". Cloth doll with pressed and oil-painted complexion and facial features, outlined blue eyes, upper lashes, heavy eyebrows, closed mouth, sparse original wig, cloth body with stitch jointing at hips and knees, brown leather arms, wears simple cotton print dress, lace-trimmed cotton bonnet. Commentary: Rare doll which was identified by Anne Coleman; marketed as Bristol’s Unbreakable Dolls, 273 High St., Providence, R.I. Wear and soil as indicated by photos; replacement arms in worn condition.
