Description
Central Europe, Proto-Celtic Urnfield Culture, ca. 1000 BCE. An elegant socketed bronze spear head or lance head with slightly curved edges, a tapering but pronounced mid-rib, and a slender, conical socket drilled through for attachment to a wooden handle. Central Europeans at this time, inspired by the Mycenaean Greeks, wore bronze body armor and helmets and carried bronze shields and weapons. Comes with custom stand. Size: 1.5" W x 6.75" H (3.8 cm x 17.1 cm); height on stand: 7.95" (20.2 cm).
Provenance: ex-private English collection acquired from the German market in the 1990s
