Description
A very large Tel Halaf seated fertility figure, c. 6th - 5th Millennium BC, the stylized seated female is depicted with a narrow head with wedge-shaped face surmounted by a tall headdress with central hole, her knees drawn upward and harms arms supporting her voluptuous breasts. Her body is decorated with banding in stripes in umber beneath earthen deposits. H: 5 1/2 in (14.1cm). Ex Northern California private collection.
