Description
VIRGINIA OR PENNSYLVANIA EARTHENWARE / REDWARE RECUMBENT DOG FIGURE, lead-glazed, carved hair on ears, haunches, and tail, punched eyes, and stamped circular-link collar, on an oval base with stamped circles around edge. Possible makers include Solomon Bell and/or S. Bell & Son, Strasburg, Shenandoah Valley of VA, and John Bell, Waynesboro, PA. 1845-1880. 3" H, 5 1/4" x 2 3/8" base.
Excellent appearance with some professional restoration to base edge, haunches, and tail.
