This lot consists of an oval portrait of President Zachary Taylor. The artist has depicted President Taylor, donning a dark suit coat with matching vest, a white collared shirt with a black bow tie. President Taylor is painted in a quarter profile, with only slightly part of his face in the shadows. Here President Taylor is depicted as an elderly man, with his age shown in his face, by the laugh lines on the edges of his eyes, the stress wrinkles and worry lines on his forehead. With the President's age shown, the artist still managed to capture the kindness of his eyes. This portrait is placed in an ornately carved wooden gilt frame with an oval hole to view the painting. The majority of the wear on this piece is present on the frame.
