Allison Colonna and the U.S. Geological Survey, and placement of the armies as well as the "woods, orchards, houses, and other cultural features" credited to Frank J. Bushong, noted as "the best living authority", and "confirmed by Mr. Hupp, of Sperryville, VA", further stating "The places where certain ones fell are from lifelong residents of New Market, who were there on the day of the battle, and from J. H. Dwyer, of Woodson's Missourians." Lettered under surveyor credits "WM. E. JOHNSON, DRAFTSMAN" and along bottom margin "COPYRIGHT, 1914, BY B. A. Very good condition overall, a few small scattered stains, a larger area of stain to lower right margin entering into topography inset, a small hole (1/4" diameter) to map proper, and a short tear to top margin that enters into the map about a half an inch.
