SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA RIB-TYPE WOVEN-SPLINT MARKET BASKET, white oak, finely-woven converging-rib kidney form with wrapped double rim and bold arched handle. Original dry natural surface. Together with a melon-form basket having "God's-eye" handle attachment and dry natural surface. Two pieces total. Late 19th/early 20th century. 10 1/2" HOA, 6 3/4" H to rim, 9 1/2" LOA.
Each in as-found condition with moderate to significant wear, breaks, and losses.
