Description
Pre-Columbian, North Central Peru, Chimu/Inca, ca. 1470 to 1523 CE. A lively blackware pottery effigy vessel depicting an animal, perhaps a hairless dog or even a wild feline or coatimundi, with black-on-black striations on his face, perky ears, bulging round eyes, a large nose with flaring nostrils, and a toothy grin. Amusingly, he holds both hands to his chin; this together with that wide smile and the fact that his is laying down on his side, suggest that he is giddy with laughter! Size: 8.875" W x 3.375" H (22.5 cm x 8.6 cm)
