A LARGE SCENIC CARVED CINNABAR LACQUER SNUFF BOTTLE, LATE QING DYNASTY
Cinnabar lacquer on metal body, possibly bronze. China, late Qing Dynasty

Decorated with scholars, their attendants and a fisherman in a tree-lined, mountainous retreat with a river in the foreground. Deep relief, the background with occasional patterns of meander and geometric flower petals en miniature.

Shape: Bold globular form
Hollowing: Standard
Mouth, neck and lip: Cylindrical short neck, decorated with two rows of scrolled leaves, narrow mouth
Base: Oval shape with distinct rim, surrounded by one row of scrolled leaves
Stopper: Matching with deeply carved blossom décor
Height of the bottle with stopper: 8.2 cm
Width of the mouth: 6 mm
Width of the neck: 29 mm
Condition: Mint condition. Good patina
