A MINIATURE BANDED DUSKY-PINK AGATE SNUFF BOTTLE, QING DYNASTY
Banded agate of dusky-pink undertone with numerous veins colored from white, pale pink to cinnabar-red, altogether forming an unusual ‘cloud and sun’ pattern. Smooth polish. China, late 18th – mid 19th century

A quite unusual example from the group of banded agate bottles, both in terms of color combination and vein pattern, where the carver showed great skill in using natural inclusions to set free a remarkable spectacle.

Shape: Bulbous and sprawling rectangular form
Hollowing: Good
Mouth, neck and lip: Sprawling short neck, flat top, very small mouth
Base: Flat oval shape
Stopper: Amazonite on onyx platelet
Height of the bottle with stopper: 4.8 cm
Width of the mouth: 5 mm
Width of the neck: 16 mm
Condition: Excellent, one microscopic nibble to rim of lip

蓋: 天河石雕蓋在縞瑪瑙片上
