19th-20th century AD. A wooden Anglo-Indian style chest with carved surface in the form of repeating palmette with floral pattern to the centre; chamfered lid with two roundels depicting a prince and queen, two to front and one to each side depicting same; two drawers to the front with brass handles with rosette escutcheon and tear-drop pulls; to the inside a shallow tray with handles to each end; underneath three compartments with drawers between; stepped cornice to the base with stepped feet to each corner. 19.6 kg, 70 x 42 x 48cm (27 1/2 x 16 1/2 x 18 3/4"). Property of a Sussex gentleman; acquired before 1990.
