A PAIR OF CHINESE LATE QING DYNASTY HAND CARVED MOTHER-OF-PEARL SHELLS IN STANDS, PROBABLY JINGDEZHEN, LATE 19TH CENTURY, the near pair of natural mollusk shells with carved trading port scene (possibly Jingdezhen) inhabited by foreign trader's, including multistory buildings, canals, men walking and on horseback, a walking woman with a parasol and dog, and men in a masted trading vessel flanked by others in canoes, with fish swimming in the water spilling onto the lower right edge, the backs with engraved floral sprays, in custom carved teak stands, stands height: 5 1/2", width: 7 1/2", depth: 2 5/8". Height: 7 7/8" Width: 9" Depth: 1 1/8"
Condition
In overall good to very good condition with minor signs of surface rubbing and wear commensurate with age and use.
