A CHINESE RED CINNABAR LACQUER LIDDED BOX, QIANLONG REIGN (1736-1795), the body of circular form, centering a figural carving of attendants and aged scholars preparing for festivities above a night sky, within a band of lotus blooms and a scrolling lotus ground, the interior with black lacquer. Height: 4 1/2" Diameter: 12"

There are some darkened areas, occassional scuffs and small chips near the edges of lid and base, and the interior black lacquer has crazing throughout and a few losses, but otherwise in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
