Follower of Giovanni Bellini (Italian, 1430-1516), "Madonna and Christ Child", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. An Old Masters style ecclesiastic painting depicting the Virgin Mother, or the Virgin Mary, with cherub-like Christ Child. Framed approximately 33" x 27.5". Unframed approximately 18.5" x 24.5".

Painting relined. Under black light examination, greenish hue from older varnish coat. Puncture restoration lower right. Significant in-painting on Virgin's neck and surrounding infant Christ's ear. Additional expansive retouches throughout each figure, and throughout background--likely 80% of work. Paint layer stable with no signs of lifting. Little to no signs of cracquelure.
