CHINESE EMBROIDERED SILK BROCADE THANGKA, H 28", W 24":A forest green border of clouds, surrounding a symmetrical composition of a Buddha with two bodhisattvas below. From the collection of Mrs. G. G. Scranton, international traveler from the late 1800's to the mid twentieth century. Friend and patron of Mrs. Dagny Carter, a notable scholar, influenced this collection.

There is a large noticeable stain that encompasses approx. one half of the Thangka. There is one, pin head size, hole in the embroidered central image. The border surrounding the image has approx. 3 small tears ranging is size from 1/2" to 1". The back lining has two 1/2" holes. The material is stiff in the area that is stained.
