Shepard was an American professor, poet, and politician who edited the works of Henry David Thoreau, Louisa May Alcott and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. He was lieutenant governor of Connecticut 1941-1943 and won the 1938 Pulitzer Price for Biography for Pedlar’s Progess, the life of Bronson Alcott. The cover of this book has a wonderful Arts & Crafts design. Tight and clean with minor fraying to spine ends. 144 pages.
