Item Details
Description

Details: 8Pcs This lot consists of a pennant, two kepi caps and a havelock cap cover for protecting the neck from the sun, and 2 pairs of bullion and brocade epaulets. These items date to circa late 19th Century to early 20th.

The pennant is red and white and has regiment number "7" and company letter "F" patches sewn on. Two leather tabs with holes are sewn into the staff end for attachment. 25" L x 15.5" W.

The kepis are both of dark or navy blue of different hues and similar construction including brown leather sweatbands. One has buttons that show the federal eagle with US shield on breast and arrows and branch in talons with head facing the left side and arrows as well as a black liner with a makers mark which reads partially "95 TO 105 WASHINGTON ST. OAK HALL CLO CO. BOSTON" which is a company still in operation. That kepi has a head-space that measures approximately 7" front to back and 5.5" from side to side with 2.25" depth and has a brim of 1.25" while the second measures 7.5" L x 6.5" W x 3" D with a 1.5" brim. The haveloc is of white cotton or other light fabric and flat round top.

The epaulets have crescent-shaped metal accents on the shoulder edge and bullion coil fringe. One pair has gold bullion and Artillery regiment buttons with the US Federal eagle with an "A" on the breast shield which are being held on by a string tied between the epaulets. That pair has a silky yellow under-side lining. The other pair has narrow silver bullion coil fringe. The first pair measures 6.9" long with 2.9" width at the neck side and 4.4" width at the shoulder and 2.5" fringe. The second pair measures 7.25" L with 3" width at the neck side and 5" width at the shoulder and 3" fringe.

This lot is from the estate of a well-known and well-respected lifetime Civil War collector in Upstate New York. Worth Auctions will feature scores of antique firearms, edged weapons, paintings, and unusual items. A selection of post-1898 firearms by major manufacturers will also be featured.

Condition / Notes: These items show period wear, age and handling which may include patina, abrasions, rust and soiling. The epaulets have missing parts and surface wear, especially the pair with silver-bullion fringe. The cap with buttons has little to no surface wear, a sweatband that is in good condition with minimal cracking, and a brim that shows some wrinkling and wear. The other cap is significantly worn, with worn fabric surface, partial sweatband and no lining, and wrinkling and cracking to the brim.
