Details: 4Pcs This lot consists of antique military uniform waist belts of treated brown or black leather found with "US" oval belt buckle plates attached from circa the late 19th century. This lot is from the estate of a well-known and well-respected lifetime Civil War collector in Upstate New York. Worth Auctions will feature scores of antique weapons, paintings, and unusual items.

One belt was found with a small horizontal strap and roller buckle attached. The strap has several different groups of holes all along the strap and may have been made with recycled leather as it is a somewhat short belt. The oval buckle plate has "US" and raised rim on the face and puppy paw hooks on rear as well as hand-engraved initials "GL". The strap measures approximately 35" x 1.75" and the plate 3.25" x 2.2".

Another belt has decorative stitching with 17 five-point stars running the length of the strap. This one also has several different groupings of closure holes. The "US" plate is attached by puppy paw hooks. The strap measures approximately 41" x 1.6" and the plate 3.25" x 2".

The other two belts have plain straps and similar "US" plates attached by puppy paw hooks. One has a metal tip and possible makers mark stamp on the front by the closure holes which reads partially "...KETT & ...NNEY". The strap on that one measures 39" x 1.5". The other strap has four large evenly spaced holes and one rather off-center presumably aftermarket hole and measures 35" x 1.9". They both have 3.3" x 2.1" plates.

The "US" plate on the second belt has a rather dark and even brown patina on the face and puppy paw hooks. The strap narrows somewhat on the ends with a rounded off hanging tip and nice regular holes along with a couple that are more likely hand-punched. The rear of the strap has the number "68" stamped on. The strap measures approximately 38.5" x 1.75" and the plate measures 3.5" x 2.25" overall.

The "US" plate on the third belt has an even brassy patina and puppy paw hooks. There are 4 small evenly spaced holes at the end of its rather short strap which has a rounded off tip to the hanging end. The strap measures 29.3" x 1.75" while the plate measures 3.4" x 2.2".
