Description
GEMINI II CREW HARD HAT
A great NASA relic, an official Gemini II hard hat used by a ground crew member at Cape Canaveral. The cream-colored hard hat bears a decal with the logo of the Gemini II mission at front, with the name of the crew member, "W. Yuknavich", and the title "Gemini" stenciled in black below. The interior is fitted with a rubber and fabric suspension liner, and the exterior bears one large scratch affecting a corner of the decal, and other expected age wear, else very good. Gemini II was the last unmanned test mission of the Gemini program, and was launched on January 19, 1965. It paved the way for the first manned Gemini mission, Gemini III, in which John Young and Gus Grissom made the first American space flight to carry two crew members.
