(1767-1848) Sixth President of the United States, Secretary of State under Monroe who principally formulated the Monroe Doctrine. Partly-printed D.S. on vellum, 1p. oblong folio, Washington, D.C., May 25, 1825, a land grant awarding a parcel in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Thomas Talbert under an 1820 law allowing the sale of public lands. Adams signs "J. Q. Adams" as President in black ink at the conclusion. The document also bears a blind-embossed presidential seal, and is countersigned by Commissioner of the General Land Office George Graham. The document bears folds, with one small spot of paper loss at one fold junction, else very good.
