(1913 - 2006) 38th President of the United States, serving from Richard Nixon's resignation in 1974 until 1977. He was never elected to a presidential term in his own right. T.L.S. "Jerry" on his House letterhead, 1p., 8vo., Washington, D.C., Jan. 15, 1965, to Julius Klein. Ford writes to Mr. Klein with gratitude in response to good wishes sent on the occasion of Ford's ascension to Minority Leader. In part: "…It is my firm intention to exert every effort to live up to the expectations of my wonderful friends and supporters and I sincerely hope that I will merit their continued confidence and trust…" He adds a post script below his signature, thanking Klein for a copy of an interview with WCFL he sent the day after the election.
