SECTION OF WOOD FROM ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S BIRTHPLACE
A great relic from Lincoln's birthplace, a large piece of wood cut from the Lincoln Farm at Hodgenville, Kentucky ca. 1920. This large section of wood, 8" x 4" x 1" overall, bears on the reverse a paper label reading: "This 'Wood' is from the Lincoln Farm. Birthplace of Abraham Lincoln. By Ladies Lincoln League For Library Fund. Hodgenville, Ky.". The relic bears attached to it with four tacks 4 1/2" x 3" period postcard showing the Lincoln's "log cabin", titled and annotated with dimensions. The entire piece is set into a deep shadow box with a large reproduction of a photo of Lincoln pre-election, the entirety framed in gold wood. The site today is a National Historic Landmark. A really attractive piece of memorabilia!
