Interesting souvenir drawing, black ink and chalk, executed on a sheet of stationary from the Cunard RMS Queen Elizabeth 2. Attributed* to Marc Chagall (1887-1985). Signed and dated in pencil. 8 x 6 inches. Very good condition. Unframed for inspection and shipping.

Provenance: Property originally from the estate of Rachel Katz, New York, whose family sailed on the QE2 on a chartered cruise to Israel and presumably received the drawings directly from the artist (celebrating the sailing).

The QE2 undertook two chartered cruises through the Mediterranean to Israel in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the state's founding. The ship was chartered in April 1973 by Mr Oscar Rudnik of Massachusetts-based Assured Travel of Worcester. His plan was to use the ship to take passengers from Southampton to Israel for the 25th Anniversary of the State’s birth.
