Description
A Bactrian green steatite footed cup, late 3rd - 2nd Millennium BC, carved from attractive mottled stone with much of the original polish remaining. The walls flared slightly with thin rim and the vessel sits on a flared ring foot with recessed interior. H: 4 in (10.2cm). Light surface deposits remain. Ex estate of Seward Kennedy, New York. Mr. Kennedy worked for decades as a lawyer for the Mobil Corporation, and acquired his collection throughout decades of travel beginning in the 1950's.
