This group consists of books from two sets. Neither is complete.
1 - The Great Events by Famous Historians, Limited edition of 1000 copies, Vols. 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,11,12,13,15,16,17,18,19, Edited by Roissiter Johnson & Walter Austin, The National Alumni Press, 1925.
#31 of 1000 registered copies. Certification signed by the editor and secretary, Rossiter Johnson, tipped into Volume I with embossed seal of The National Alumni. These volumes helped make up a 22 volume set covering events up to the First World War. Each volume is bound with a different beautiful facsimile of the binder's art drawn from the great libraries and museums of Europe, elaborately gold stamped on the front, blind stamped on back. The spines have four flat gold bands, compartments including the title, volume, and dates covered gold stamped. Issued without dust jackets. Top edge gilt, fore and bottom edges deckled (feathered or rough cut). Some pages still uncut. Each volume has engraved illustrations. Tissue guards are illustrated as well with printed captions.
2 - The Renaissance Edition of the Literature of Italy, Limited edition of 500 copies, 10 Vols.
Edited by Roissiter Johnson and Dora K. Ranous, The National Alumni Press, 1906.
10 volumes of the #22 of 500 registered matching hardcover editions. Most original leather spines are missing, ideally they need to be rebound. However decorative boards are still in nice condition with lovely gold embossed designs, so only spines need tlc. Exquisite hand tinted frontis etchings / plates, art house quality, suitable for framing. Uncut edges, a little soiled, but text is tight and sound. These are 10 volumes from an original set of 16. Rare editions.

Condition
Condition - 2 incomplete sets. Both contain volume 1 noting their limited production. Hard bound in various colors. Gilt embossed covers and spines. Foxing in front matter and end papers. Some bumps, scuffs and chipping to boards and back strips, some back strips torn or missing. Some boards loose. Top edges gilt, fore and bottom edges uncut.
