Description
16th century AD. A pipe-clay figurine of one of the three wise men, standing in a long cloak on a domed base, clutching a small box to his chest, some original colour remaining. 88 grams total, 97mm (3 3/4"). Property of an English collector; formerly in the Walter Steinberg collection; acquired 1960s-1980s; accompanied by an old dealer' ticket stating that the figure was found in the foundation of an old building. [No Reserve]
