New Kingdom, 1570-1070 BC. A wooden figure of the god Thoth in the form of an ibis, reclining, with sickle-shaped beak resting on the chest; traces of gesso overlay; with custom-made stand. 97 grams, 84mm including stand (3 1/2"). Property of a Swiss collector; acquired Auktionhaus Michael Zeller, Lindau, Germany, December 2005 lot 123; formerly in a private collection formed before 1980.
