Set of Four Meissen Porcelain Figures, 19th c., representing Earth, Fire, Air and Water, and so labeled in French on the base, Air - 10 1/4 in., W.- 3 in., D.- 3 5/8 in. Provenance: The Estate of Sidney J. Mazarat III, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. Earth- Repair to hand; uneven texture and slight discoloration to thumb and palm. Repair to neck; yellowish discoloration along neck. Water- Approximate 1 cm area of wear on the top of the paddle. Tip of cattail lacking from base. Approximate ½ inch patch of brown residue on dress. ¼ inch faint brown streak on knee. Fire- Light soiling on purple section of cape. Air- Repair to arms and blue drapery; uneven texture and discoloration in those areas. ¼ inch white streak on face. Tip of peacock wing lacking. Several flea-size brown spots on dress; ½ inch discoloration on back with chip at center. A nice group.
