MacArthur informs his correspondent, in full, 'My Sincere sympathy is with you in the death of your husband, First Lieutenant John J. Swisshelm. May you derive a measure of consolation from the knowledge that he fought for his country devotedly in an epic struggle to maintain freedom and justice in the world. By his death he made the supreme sacrifice that the noble cause for which he fought so valiantly might live forever.' Some extremely light age wear, VG
