Europe, Greece, ca. 19th century CE. A pair of beautifully carved wooden distaffs, used by shepherds to hold wool being spun. Although functional, these items, with their geometric openwork, are also nice examples of folk art. Size of largest: 4" W x 31.6" H (10.2 cm x 80.3 cm)
