Description
A set of six (5 x 1 arm) early 19th century mahogany dining chairs. Each with veneered panelled top rail and reed mid rail, the cream damask-covered drop-in seat on turned tapering front legs, the 'carver' or elbow chair with open scroll arms on spindle supports. Together with an early 19th century twin pedestal dining table, the two-piece oblong top with rounded corners and reeded edge on a pair of fluted baluster supports each with three reeded downswept legs terminating in conforming reeded brass caps and castors, extending with a 12, (30.5cm) leaf to 72 x 42 x 32 high, (183cm x 106.5cm x 81cm), (7).
Condition
Chairs: Most have minor cracks/losses to the veneer of the top rail panels - one has a patch. Otherwise overall sound.Table: Top (excluding leaf) has been French polished some time ago. Leaf is darker and has more figure. Leaf has not been polished and has minor losses, paint splashes etc. One leg of tripod support is coming away at joint, needs attention
