Description
An Edwardian silver cream jug, of bellied tapered form with embossed floral motifs surrounding twin opposed vacant cartouches, the rim with rope-twist border and pinched spout, leading to a high arch scroll capped handle, the whole raised upon a circular stepped foot. Hallmarked Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd., London 1901. Height inclusive of handle measures 4 6/8 inches (12.3 cm), weight 3.9 ozt (123.6 grams).
Condition
In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Possible solder repair to the bottom handle join with visible file marks. Minor loss of definition to the decoration and tarnishing around edges. Maker's mark rubbed and partially obscured, other hallmarks clear and legible.
