Description
A late Victorian silver caster of cylindrical form to a skirted base, ornately chased and embossed throughout with floral and foliate scroll motifs, the conforming removable cover also with stylised foliate piercing. Hallmarked George Nathan & Ridley Hayes, Chester 1896. Height measuring 5 3/4 inches (14.5 cm), weight 4.86 ozt (151.3 grams).
Condition
The caster appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general tarnishing and surface wear, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. A few minor surface dints. Visible seam lines. Some slight flattening or rubbing and loss of surface detail to decoration but generally still good. Lid is a fairly good fit. Hallmarks clear and legible including part hallmarks to lid.
