LENOX CHINA MID-CENTURY MODERN ARTICLES, LOT OF FOUR, comprising two "martini pitchers" with sloping design and low, pointed base, one in red, marked "Winslow / Anderson / 1953" on base; one jam/relish tray with cover, model number 3492-x-514, having a black base and gilt-rim cover with black finial, and one double pointed dish. Two marked with interior gilt "L" within a wreath, "LENOX", and "MADE IN U.S.A." Winslow Anderson designed for Lenox Ceramic Art Company, Trenton, New Jersey. Circa 1960. Pitchers 8 1/2" H.
Excellent undamaged condition.
Provenance: Winslow Anderson estate sold to benefit the Huntington Museum of Art.
Exhibited: Three examples, Huntington Museum of Art, 8/22/99-1/9/2000.
Catalogue Note: Winslow Anderson worked as a design director at Lenox China from 1953-1980. Exhibition records note that the red color of the martini pitcher was never made it into production and that the double serving dish was referred to as a "bra" in the factory.
