Description
EARLY BLENKO GLASS FOOTED TUMBLERS, LOT OF TWO, pale blue and teal, each signed, "BLENKO/1938". Possibly made by Carl Ebert Erickson. 1938. 4 3/4" to 5" H.
Teal undamaged, blue with several annealing checks to the foot, probably as made.
Provenance: Winslow Anderson estate sold to benefit the Huntington Museum of Art.
Catalogue Note: Winslow Anderson was the first design director at Blenko, he held this position from 1946 - 1952 before moving on as a design director for Lenox China in 1953. These tumblers predate Winslow Anderson's days at Blenko. According to Piña in Blenko: Cool '50s & '60s glass, this could possibly be a creation of Carl Erickson who was working at Blenko during the late 1930s.
