Description
EARLY BLENKO GLASS BOWL, deep green, Optic design, rough pontil mark, signed, "BLENKO/CIRCA 1938". Possibly made by Carl Ebert Erickson. 1938. 4" H, 5 1/2" D rim.
Undamaged with excepted minute shelf wear.
Provenance: Winslow Anderson estate sold to benefit the Huntington Museum of Art.
Catalogue Note: Winslow Anderson was the first design director at Blenko, he held this position from 1946 - 1952 before moving on as a design director for Lenox China in 1953. This bowl predates Winslow Anderson's days at Blenko. According to Piña in Blenko: Cool '50s & '60s glass, this could possibly be a creation of Carl Erickson who was working at Blenko during the late 1930s.
